QUICK OVERVIEW

You can complete your e-Známka registration in under two minutes at Vignetteslovakia.com.
Our process is simple:

Choose your vignette

Select your vehicle type, validity period, and start date.

Enter your details

Add your licence plate number and email address.

Review and pay

Confirm everything looks correct and complete your payment.

Slovakia’s vignette system has been 100% digital since 2016, which means there’s no physical windscreen sticker available for purchase. Instead, your licence plate is registered electronically in the national NDS database and checked automatically by ANPR cameras as you drive on Slovakia’s motorways.

Once you’ve paid, we make sure your vehicle is active in the NDS system. Within a few minutes, you’ll receive a confirmation e-mail, and after that, you’re ready to travel on any Slovakian motorway or expressway.

The 3-Step Process

1 Day €18.05
10 Days €20.75
Monthly €29.95
Annual €109.95
Step 01

Choose Your Vignette

Start by selecting the validity period that best suits your trip. You can activate your vignette immediately for same-day travel or pick a future start date if you’re planning ahead.

  • Duration options: 1 Day, 10 Days, 30 Days, or 1 Year
  • You can choose today for instant activation, or pick any future start date

One important thing to remember about the 1-Day vignette:it’s valid only until 24:00 (midnight CET) on the day you select—not for 24 hours from the moment you buy. For example, if you buy a 1-Day vignette at 6pm, it still expires at midnight the same evening. It does not remain valid until 6pm the next day. If you’re entering Slovakia late in the evening, it’s worth checking carefully whether a 1-Day vignette covers your full journey.

Travelling by motorcycle or moped? You do not need a vignette in Slovakia. These vehicles are exempt.

Double-check Your Details

Entering the correct license plate and country is critical. The system cannot be modified once registration is completed.

Step 02

Enter Your Details

To register your e-vignette correctly, we need three things: your licence plate number, the country where your vehicle is registered, and your vehicle category. In Slovakia, there is only a vignette needed for a two-track motor vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes and an additional vignette for trailers, in case the combination with the towing vehicle exceeds 3.5 tonnes.

Licence Plate & Vehicle Category

We accept licence plates from both EU and non-EU countries. Simply enter your licence plate number exactly as it appears on your vehicle’s documents, including the country prefix where applicable. (Drivers from Ukraine, Serbia and Poland: your non-EU plates work the same way.)

E-mail Double-Verification

To avoid typos, you’ll be asked to enter your e-mail address twice. Your e-Známka confirmation e-mail and your e-vignette as PDF are delivered there almost immediately after purchase.

Check everything carefully

Before continuing, take a moment to review everything carefully. The Slovakian toll system checks licence plates automatically using ANPR cameras, so even a small mistake in your registration details can cause problems later. It can result in a €150 fine even though you’ve paid for a vignette. If you notice an error before activation, corrections may still be possible. However, once your vignette is active, no changes can be made. Feel free to contact our support team if you have any questions about your vignette.

Step 03

Review & Pay

Before initiating the payment, you’ll see a full order summary. Take a moment to check all five details: vignette type, start date, licence plate number, vehicle category, and e-mail address.

If everything looks correct, choose your preferred payment method and complete your order. We support more than 20 payment options, including credit and debit cards, PayPal, Google Pay, Revolut, iDEAL, BLIK, Przelewy24, Bancontact, MyBank, Satispay, and more.

After You Pay

Confirmation

Instant Email

The system automatically dispatches your PDF certificate within 60 seconds.

PDF on Phone

Save the PDF to your phone. Digital display is fully legal in the Slovenian Republic.

Once your payment has been confirmed, you’ll see an order confirmation screen and you’ll receive a confirmation e-mail. Within minutes, your e-Známka is registered in the NDS national database and the e-vignette is sent to you as PDF in a separate e-mail. This PDF is your record of purchase.

On our February 2026 research trip, we noticed how quickly enforcement begins after entering the Slovakian motorway network. On the D2 near the Brodské border crossing, ANPR gantries appeared within roughly a kilometre of the border, leaving very little opportunity to stop and arrange a vignette after entering Slovakia.

There are no physical barriers, toll booths, or checkpoints. Everything happens automatically in the background as you travel. That’s why it’s important to have your vignette before joining the motorway. Keeping the PDF on your phone is a good idea, but it’s your licence plate that really matters.

How to Check Your Vignette Is Active

You can verify the status of your vignette at any time on Vignetteslovakia.com or directly on the official NDS portal at eznamka.sk. Simply enter your licence plate number to confirm your registration status, vignette type, and validity dates. The information comes from the same live database the enforcement cameras use, so you can check independently whenever you like.

What If You Make a Mistake?

Typos happen, especially when entering letters and numbers on a mobile phone. Here’s what you can do:

Before your vignette becomes active

In many cases, you can change your licence plate number, country of registration, or vehicle category if your vignette is not yet active. Contact our support team immediately via the Help Centre and we’ll guide you through it.

After your vignette becomes active

Once a vignette has been activated, changes are usually no longer possible. If you discover an error, contact our support team immediately and we’ll tell you exactly what your options are.
If you’re unsure what applies to your situation, get in touch with our support team. We usually respond within 10 minutes and will walk you through it.

A note from experience

In February 2026, we spent five days driving across Slovakia to understand how the motorway system works in practice. Our route took us through several of the country’s main motorway border crossings: entering from the Czech Republic at Lanžhot–Brodské on the D2, travelling east on the D1 toward Žilina, continuing north to the Polish border via the D3, and then to the Austrian crossing at Kittsee–Jarovce via the D4 and the Hungarian crossing at Rajka–Čunovo.

The pattern was the same everywhere: motorway entry points were tightly monitored by ANPR gantries and clearly marked with toll-control signage. Vehicles were actively scanned from the very first stretch of Slovakian road. Coming off the D2 toward Rajka, we also noticed there were no vignette purchase points on the Slovakian side heading out. And on approach from the Czech Republic, there was no kiosk before the gantries either. A driver without a pre-bought e-Známka simply had no on-the-spot option.

Our advice is simple: always buy your e-Známka online before you cross the border. It’s faster, it’s easier, and it removes the risk of a €150 fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to get my e-Známka?

Your e-Známka is registered in the NDS system within minutes of payment. You’ll receive a confirmation e-mail straight away and a separate e-mail with your vignette in the attached PDF after minutes. The ANPR cameras can check your licence plate from that point on.

Can I schedule my e-Známka for a future date?

Yes. Just select your desired start date at checkout. Your vignette will automatically activate on that date. You can buy an annual e-Známka in advance for a future start date, too.

What if I enter the wrong licence plate number?

Contact support via the Help Centre immediately. Before activation, full corrections are possible, including licence plate number, country of vehicle registration, and vehicle category. After activation, no corrections can be made.

Do I need to print anything?

No. Slovakia’s e-Známka has been 100% digital since 2016. There’s no windscreen sticker and nothing to print. The PDF confirmation is just for your records. ANPR cameras read your licence plate automatically at every toll gantry along the motorway.

How do I know my e-Známka is active?

Once you’ve received your vignette e-mail including the PDF, you’re registered. You can verify this independently at any time on eznamka.sk. Just enter your licence plate number to check your vignette’s status in the official NDS system.

What vignette durations are available in Slovakia?

There are four options: 1-Day, 10-Day, Monthly, and Annual, each running from the start date you choose. An important thing to note about the 1-Day vignette: it’s valid until 24:00 (midnight CET) on the selected day, not for a full 24 hours from purchase. Slovakia has one annual option; there are no county or regional sub-types. See our prices page for the full breakdown.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept more than 20 payment methods, including credit and debit cards, PayPal, Google Pay, Revolut, iDEAL, BLIK, Przelewy24, Bancontact, MyBank, Satispay, and more.
